ChatGPT-style images, wherever you work

GPT Image is OpenAI's family of image models. Root runs GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst in the Root app, by API, and from Claude and ChatGPT, so you can make and edit images like ChatGPT does and keep every one in a project. A square 1K image starts at $0.07.

First month free on the Beginner plan, with 650 credits to try any model.

GPT Image prices on Root

What one square 1K image costs on Root, in dollars. Wider images cost less; the GPT Image page has every size. 100 credits is $1.

ModelBest for1K square
GPT Image 2Sharp text in the image and close instruction-following.$0.25
GPT Image 2.5 FlareEveryday images at a lower price, with the same sharp text.$0.07
GPT Image 2.5 SunburstEdits that keep everything you didn't ask to change.$0.07

Four ways to get these images

  • In the Root app: add an Image Gen node, pick a GPT Image model, write the prompt and run it. The price shows before you run.
  • From Claude: connect Root to Claude and ask for the image in the chat. Name GPT Image, or let Claude pick. Claude starts it on Root and it lands in your project.
  • Inside ChatGPT: on a paid ChatGPT plan, connect Root in Developer mode and you can ask for images with Root's other image models too, such as Nano Banana Pro, Seedream 5.0 Pro or FLUX.2 [pro].
  • By API: send a prompt and a model id to Root's generations endpoint. The GPT Image page shows the request.

One account for every image model

The same credits pay for GPT Image and every other model on Root, so you can try a shot on GPT Image and its next take on another model, and keep both in the same project.

In the Root app, the price of every image is shown before it runs.

How much does a GPT Image picture cost on Root?

A square 1K image costs $0.25 with GPT Image 2, $0.07 with GPT Image 2.5 Flare and $0.07 with GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Bigger sizes cost more, wider images cost less, and the price is shown before you run it. The GPT Image page has the price at every size.

Can I use other image models inside ChatGPT?

Yes, with Root connected (adding Root needs Developer mode, on a paid ChatGPT plan). Ask for an image in the chat and name the model, such as Nano Banana Pro, Seedream 5.0 Pro or FLUX.2 [pro]. The same credits pay for every model, and each image is saved to your Root project.

Can GPT Image edit my own photos?

Yes. Give it your image and say what to change. You can give it up to 8 images in one run, your own included, for a character, a product or a layout to keep. GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst is the one to pick when everything you didn't ask to change has to stay the same.

Where are my images saved?

In your Root project, wherever you made them: in the Root app, from Claude, from ChatGPT or by API. Every take is kept, so you can compare them side by side.
