Editing a clip with Runway Aleph
Aleph 2.0 works on footage you already have. Put the clip in a Root project, add an Edit Video step, choose Aleph 2.0 and say what to change: make it night, turn it into claymation, change the car's colour. The new version lands next to the original, so you can compare takes and keep the best. Aleph runs in the Root app.
The Runway API on Root
Make an API key in Root under Settings, then API, with a daily spending limit you choose. Send the model id gen4.5 with a prompt and a project, and the Gen-4.5 clip is saved there. You can also ask for Gen-4.5 clips from Claude or ChatGPT. How to connect

What is Runway Aleph?
Aleph 2.0 edits a video you already have. In a Root project, pick the clip, choose Aleph 2.0 on the Edit Video step and say what to change: the style, the light, or something in the shot. Each edit is one price, $4.83, and it keeps the clip's own sound.
Is there a Runway API on Root?
Yes, for Gen-4.5. Create an API key in Root and send the model id gen4.5 to the generations endpoint with a prompt and a project. The clip is saved to that project. Aleph 2.0 edits run in the Root app.
Am I charged if Runway rejects my prompt?
Yes, in that one case. A run that fails for any other reason costs nothing. The one exception is a Runway run its content filter rejects: Runway charges us for those and does not refund it, so they are charged to you. Changing what you sent is the only fix.
Does Gen-4.5 make sound?
No. Gen-4.5 makes silent video. Add voices and music in Root, or use a model that makes sound with the picture, such as Seedance or Veo.
How long can a Gen-4.5 clip be?
Up to 10 seconds in one generation. Longer scenes are several clips cut together on Root's timeline.
Can I use my own Runway key?
Yes. Add your Runway key in Root and these models run on it, and Root charges nothing for those clips.
Can I use Runway from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes, for Gen-4.5. Connect Root to Claude or ChatGPT and ask for a Gen-4.5 clip in the chat. It's priced and saved to your project the same way as a clip made in the app.
Can I try Runway for free?
