Ideogram v3 makes one size and one price in every shape. GPT Image charges a little for each picture it is given, and less for a wide image than a square one. “Up to” is the most it can cost; you are charged what the model reports it used.
Getting the layout right
- Fewer words come out cleaner. A headline and a short line under it work better than a paragraph; add long copy in your layout afterwards.
- Say where the words sit and keep that part of the picture plain, so nothing runs through them.
- Pick the shape before you run it. Ideogram v3 makes 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3 and 3:4; the GPT Image models make 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3 and 3:4.
- Read every take letter by letter before you use it. The Ideogram guide covers quoting the words and describing the type.
Making the words move

What is the best AI for typography?
It depends on the job. What if one letter comes out wrong?
Fix that word rather than make the whole image again. Give the image to GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, quote the right word and say where it is: it changes what you name and leaves the rest alone. At 1K, that edit is up to $0.11 for a square image. Ideogram v3 makes new images only, so it can't make that fix.
Can AI make typography in 4K?
Yes, with GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. A square 4K image starts at $0.21, with GPT Image 2.5 Flare or GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Ideogram v3 makes one size.
Can I match the lettering to my brand?
Show the model rather than describe it. Ideogram v3 takes a picture to borrow its look, such as an old poster of yours. The GPT Image models take up to 8 pictures, such as your logo and packaging; each one adds a little to the price. Name the colours too, and keep the same words for the style in every prompt.
Can I make lettering images by API or from Claude?
Yes. Ideogram v3 and the GPT Image models run in the Root app, by API, and from Claude and ChatGPT. Put the words in the prompt, in quotes, as you would in the app. Each image is saved to your Root project.
