Swap a character in a clip
Put a different person, character or face into a clip you already have: a character swap or face swap.
Swapping a character, sometimes called a face swap, happens on the Edit Video node in the Graph. You give it the clip and a picture of the new character, then pick a swap workflow.
- Open the Graph and add an Edit Video node.
- In the Inspector, choose a swap workflow from the Workflow list. The list below says which one fits.
- Wire the clip into the node's driving video or source video input.
- Wire the picture of the new character into its character image or cast pictures input. For Re-Dress, it is the what goes in input.
- Fill in what the workflow asks for, such as a prompt, then press Run.
- Character Replacement puts the character from your picture into the clip. It keeps the clip's background, camera and timing. A face must show in every frame, and the result has no sound. It uses up to 16 seconds of the clip and trims the rest.
- Wan Animate 2 (Motion Transfer) makes a new clip of your picture doing the clip's movement, without the clip's background. It gives finer control over the movement and the likeness, on up to about 10 seconds.
- Character / object swap + audio (MiniMax H3) keeps the performance, the set, the camera move and the timing, and swaps in what your pictures show. That can be a person or a product. It takes up to three pictures, makes a new soundtrack, and the result is up to 15 seconds.
- Kling Motion Control makes the character in your picture do the movement in the driving video. The driving video must be an MP4 or MOV of at least 3 seconds.
- Re-Cast replaces the people in the clip with the cast in your pictures and keeps their movement. Make the first picture the opening frame with the new cast in place. The clip can be up to 30 seconds, and a render takes 5 to 15 minutes.
- Re-Dress does the same for one object, an outfit or a location.
Re-Cast and Re-Dress refuse copyrighted characters. To make a brand-new clip from your picture, with no clip to follow, use a Video Gen node instead.
