Shots

Shots is the home of a project. Each row is one shot in your film, and inside it are all the takes you have made — every attempt, kept, in the order you made them.

Nothing here is thrown away. Trying a shot ten times leaves you with ten takes and no lost work. You can go back to the third one a week later if it turns out to be the best.

Shots shows one sequence at a time, picked at the top of the page. New sequence, beside Sequences, makes another. Add shot, at the top of a sequence, adds a shot to it. Drag a shot by its handle to move it.

1. Open a shot to see its takes, under its Images, Videos and Assets tabs.
2. Play them and compare. Once a shot has two finished takes, press Compare, pick two, and press Compare selected.
3. Press Approve on the one you want. It then shows Approved; press that again to take the approval back.
4. When you fold a shot up, its picture is its earliest approved take. With none approved, it is the earliest take you have not rejected.

• Use as starting frame → Video, on a finished picture, opens Create to make a clip that starts from it.
• Add to Edit, on a finished picture or clip, puts it on your edit timeline and opens Edit.
• The eye button on a take hides it from the list without deleting it. Hide failed hides every failed take at once.
• Show hidden appears once something is hidden. It shows the hidden takes again, each with its own button to bring it back, and Un-hide all.

• Select references: press Select references at the top of the shot first; a tick box then appears on each file. Tick them and press Use asset as a reference, or Use assets as references for several. Create opens with them as references.
• One file from the shot's Assets tab: press Use as on its card and choose Use as reference, Use as first frame or, for a picture, Use as transform source. Create (or, for a transform, the Graph) opens with it already in place.
• Download: tick up to 50 takes and press Download (with provenance) to save each file with the record of how it was made.
• Add to dataset: tick pictures, then press Create Dataset or Add to existing dataset to train a model of your own on them.

Approving a take does not delete the others. Several takes can be approved at once, and you can change your mind at any time.
